College of Health Sciences Global Scholars Program


The College of Health Sciences (CHS) Global Scholars Program is for interesting students in the CHS. The program will be open to students interested in developing global preparedness, international travel, cultural immersion and experiential learning in a healthcare-related field in an international community setting. The program promotes critical thinking, global awareness, intellectual development, leadership, supervisory skills, social responsibility and engagement. Global Scholar students will be required to complete all IHPS major degree requirements as specified in the Undergraduate Academic Catalog, except where designated Honors courses are specified.

 

Program benefits include:

  • Designation of Global Scholar appearing both on student diplomas and transcripts attesting to the graduate’s international awareness and global preparedness
  • Meaningful international travel experience for the purpose of research abroad in the student’s chosen field of study.
  • Strong relationships with mentors at Troy University, which will produce highly trained graduates with the connections needed to compete for jobs and funded graduate programs.
  • Early registration privileges, allowing CHHS Global Scholars to register in the first group of students.

Area II: Humanities/Fine Arts (12 Hours)

Student will take KHP 4493  or KHP 4494   Guided Independent Study as a required course in the IPHS major. The course will serve as the course in which the student will implement international experience.

Requirement 5


Student must successfully complete the Inter-Cultural Competency Minor in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Requirement 6


Student must successfully complete two minors in the CHHS.

Requirement 7


Student must successfully complete a formal presentation to the department/college on the international experience.
