Global Scholars Opportunity in the College of Education

The College of Education supports Troy’s commitment to developing globally aware graduates who are more globally prepared to pursue careers or graduate opportunities in an international environment. Students in the College of Education can earn the status of Troy University Global Scholar through participation in a research abroad experience in conjunction with EDU 4490-Global Identity. To fulfil the university requirements for Global Scholar status, students will need to complete the following tasks as part of their research abroad experience:

Research or Professional Design Component
Prior to participation in the international research experience, work with a designated faculty advisor in order to design a research project that is specific to the student’s field of study. This research design project will be college and/or discipline-specific, utilize appropriate methodologies, and be faculty approved.
Preparatory PESTLE Research and Resulting Dossier on Country/Region - Specific Knowledge
Engage in preparatory research on the country, countries, or broader regional in which the international research experience is focuses, producing a dossier of key aspects of the political, economic, social, technological, legal, and/or environmental (PESTLE) context. This dossier will be submitted to, and evaluated by, a designated faculty advisor in the student’s college.
Analytical Report
Prepare and submit an analytical report that describes the outcomes of their international research experience. This report will be evaluated by faculty from the student’s college with an established rubric.
Professional Presentation
After conducting Research Abroad, create and conduct a formal presentation that describes the outcomes of the student’s research. This presentation will be evaluated by faculty from the student’s college with an established rubric.
Personal Reflection Paper
Prepare and submit a personal reflection paper that summarizes ways in which their international research experience helped them better understand and be able to interact with perspectives different from their own and gain knowledge about the interrelationships between differing perspectives.
