SOC 4452 - Human Trafficking This course assumes a background in social science, criminal justice, or junior standing and familiarity with major theories in social science. This course aims to provide an understanding of the extent and scope of human trafficking, both domestically and globally, by focusing on the various dimensions from social, cultural, historical, and legal frameworks. Definitions and important terminology will be discussed, as well as the nature and consequences of various types of the crime. The roles that entities such as the government, the criminal justice system, media, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play individually and in collaboration with each other will be analyzed. Policies that attempt to identify and reduce trafficking will be examined. Using an applied, systemic approach to human trafficking, aspects of the issues will be covered in an informed and well-analyzed, social science sense. Prerequisite(s): SOC 2275
