ANT 3322 - Ethnohistory of Colonial Latin America

This course examines the ethnohistory of colonial Latin America. It broadly covers the period from the fifteenth through the nineteenth century with a focus on the ethnic groups involved in the colonial encounter throughout the region. These groups include people of African, Indigenous, and European descent. With a focus on ethnohistory, there will be an emphasis on Indigenous people and their encounters with the colonial sphere.
