POL 4436 - Trial Procedures - Criminal Law This course is designed to introduce students to the use of legal reasoning and argument in the context of trial advocacy. Students will develop skills in formulating, presenting, and critiquing legal arguments. Students will explore the sources of criminal law, the theory behind the adversarial system, and the various procedural and evidentiary rules in place to achieve the system’s goals. Throughout the semester, students will apply what is learned through mock trials in class and in one or more scrimmages/tournaments with other schools. Note: Students make take POL 4426 and POL 4436 for credit. Prerequisite(s): Must have instructor permission to enroll in the course
