HSTM 4419 - Coumminity-Based Touism

This course concentrates on the use of the tourism industry to positively enhance community economic, social, environmental, and institutional domains. Students will learn theoretical and practical tools to use tourism to enhance areas including: quality-of-life, social capital, economic development, governance, and stewardship of natural resources. Students will then learn how to extend and enhance the capacities of these variables within tourism systems to strengthen communities that interact and depend on the tourism industry.
