Study of developments in the Mediterranean and Europe during the third through eighth centuries, including the fall of the Roman empire and the rise of barbarian kingdoms. The course examines the interrelatedness of economics, politics, warfare, and religion in shaping late ancient societies. Prerequisite(s): HIS 1101 and HIS 1102 or HIS 1122 and HIS 1123 or permission of the instructor
