HIS 4404 - Modern Eastern Europe 3 Credit Hour(s)
This course examines political, economic, and social developments of nineteenth- and twentieth- century Eastern Europe from the Revolutions of 1848 through the collapse of the Soviet bloc and beyond. The course analyzes the impact of the disintegration of Russian, Ottoman, and Habsburg empires on inter-war Eastern Europe; examines the establishment, development, and eventual collapse of communism in the region; and explores the dynamics of post-Cold War European integration. Prerequisite(s): HIS 1101 and HIS 1102 or HIS 1122 and HIS 1123 or permission of the instructor
