ANT 3316 - Introduction of Medical Anthropology

This course provides a broad overview of the anthropological literature concerning medicine and the body. It largely takes a biocultural approach to exploring related conceptualizations and practices across societies. This course introduces the student to medical anthropology while investigating broader questions about cross-cultural understandings of the body. The course design combines lecture and seminar formats while emphasizing a writing-intensive curriculum. It can be taught by a biological or cultural anthropologist or through team-taught combination.
