3 Credit Hour(s)

HON 2201: Global Scholars Honors Colloquia is a preparatory course designed to equip students for their upcoming HON 3380: Global Travel Study: Short-Term Research Abroad course. This unique, tutorial-style course meets weekly to select a country of cohort interest, identify potential experiences, and gain insights into planning their project abroad while locating and contacting mentors, institutions, alumni, and partners abroad for a successful Short-Term Research Abroad (STRA) experience. The course includes in-depth cultural orientations, discipline-specific workshops, and opportunities for collaboration, featuring guest speakers who are experts in their fields. Students will begin to seek out potential mentors (Major Professor) and will start developing research interests in their area of focus that align with the proposed country for use in Honors CORE. They will gain valuable insights into societal dynamics, cultural diversity, and operational practices that enhance their learning experiences. Finally, students will engage in reflective practices through journaling and group discussions, ensuring they are well-prepared to integrate their global experiences into their academic pursuits.
Prerequisite(s): Students must have completed HON 1101 Freshman Honors Seminar: Global Perspectives: Ideas, Events, Aesthetics, and Opportunities
