Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management Major

Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management majors must earn a grade of C or better in all major courses for credit toward graduation. If a student earns a D or F in any major course, he/she must repeat that course.
Faculty within the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management believe the practical experience gained through an internship is essential to the student’s education and professional growth. Therefore, all undergraduate students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management are required to complete an internship.
All students earning a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management are required to select one 18-hour minor. This minor may be housed in the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management which includes Event Management, Hospitality Management, Sport Management, Tourism Management, or a minor outside the School.

Area I Requirements
A minimum grade of C is required in ENG 1101 and 1102 or their equivalents. Area II Requirements
(See Area I regarding the sequence requirement) - 1000-2000 level course within Literature (3 Hours)
- 1000-2000 level course with an expanded historical and cultural scope in the Fine Arts, including the disciplines of Art, Music, Theatre, Film, or other Fine Arts area (3 Hours)
- Any 1000-2000 level courses with an expanded historical and cultural scope in the Humanities/Fine Arts disciplines, including English, World Languages, Religion, Philosophy, Classics, Theatre, Music, Dance, Communications, Sign Language, Interdisciplinary Studies, or other Humanities/Fine Arts areas (6 Hours)
Math Requirement*
Select one of the following: Science Requirement
- Any 1000-2000 level science classes (class and lab both required) from the following Science disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science or other Science areas (8 Credit Hours)
Area IV Requirements
(See above regarding the sequence requirement) - Any 1000-2000 level course with a principle focus on History (3 Hours)
- Any three 1000-2000 level course from the following Social Science disciplines: Anthropology, Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, Geography, History, Human Services, Leadership, Interdisciplinary Studies, Nursing, Political Science, Psychology, Religion, Social Work, Sociology, or other Social Science areas (9 Hours)
